Jamie Smith (pictured giving a cooking demonstration at the School Food Festival), is a founding member of the Central Coast School Food Alliance, and was until recently the Senior Manager for Nutrition and Food in the Santa Cruz School District.. He brought healthy in-house scratch cooking back into all of the district's school meals and was a tireless advocate of local farm to school produce and educating students and families in healthy cooking and eating. Jamie also converted the school cafeterias into student-run Surf City Cafes, implemented breakfast in the classroom and a free summer meal program and cooking classes.
